North Carolina Tips

I would like to start this post off by thanking (Jdamlover) From steam for providing the images, i was busy and unable to go to North Carolina ingame to get them myself.

                 North Carolina Tips

Redear Sunfish-Redear get rather big here, you can easily catch them up to 4 pounds. This picture is of a Unique which is quite common on Maggots, or Wax Worms, with a size #1-#4 hook, you want to set your leader to 35 it is suprisingly deep in this river. You will be fishing at the furthest left location. Line of 6 pounds-8 pounds is highly recommended.

SmallMouth Bass- North Carolina is the first location to have these fish in the game, they are fierce fighters and are worth a good amount of Xp, The best methods to catch them are as follows. Bass Jig #2/0-#4/0,Medium spoon#2/0-#4/0, you may also have success with Shads 2' or larger with a 1/6 oz #2/0 jighead I will warn you that you might also get Pickeral Redfin Pickeral to be exact(Great Parking Job Only). You can catch these fish at two locations Into The Rocky Blue, and Great Parking Job.

White Crappie-White crappie make another appearance you can catch these at missouri too. They can be caught the same way as other panfish with a size 2 hook and the right kind of bait Dough Balls I also believe that maggots and wax worms can catch them as well, i could be incorrect as i havent checked in a while.

RedBreast Sunfish-These fish are unique to North Carolina As far as i know, they only get to about 1.2 pounds. These fish are just a different variety of the panfish family, They are decent xp fish but dont offer any money really, you can catch them with bait just as you would with crappie and bluegill. I would recommend a size #1-#2 hook, and the sport bobber.

The other fish here are fish that are caught at other locations and it is best to view those pages to learn the baits to use for them,
                    Fish Not Listed,
1.Largemouth Bass
2.Redfin Pickeral
3.Black Crappie
4.Bluegill
5.Pumpkinseed

I felt that it wasnt necessary to double up on these fish. If you would like me to add them back into this guide please shoot me a message on steam.

New York Tips

                                 New York Tips

Walleye- is probably not the best of choices for noobies, but the best way to catch them is to go off  The Dock Of Peace. Cast straight out towards the largest tree in the distance, you will be trying to get 150-210 feet out. Reel Backwards if you need to, I highly recommend using a medium casting spoon 1/4 oz #1/0 or #2/0. Begin to reel in slowly with the lure bouncing on the bottom or near the bottom, give your line a pull every once in a while. Walleye bite hard so you will need to react fast, any spin or casting rod will work, make sure you use 4-6 pound test as they are great fighters. Walleye will snap all the rookie grade rods so please dont use them.

                           Pike(pike,grass pickeral,chain pickeral,redfin)

Redfin Pickeral-one of the smaller varieties of pickeral in the game only reaching about 1.4 pounds. Redfin Pickeral are caught the same way as grass and chain pickeral are caught, with a casting spoon really any of the smaller sized spoons will work. I recommend casting into the grassy areas or to the left off the end of The Dock Of Peace. Slowly reel in with a occasional tug or stop and go and these fish will take your line.

Chain Pickeral- The largest fish in the sub pike family, chain pickeral are rather rare and are better caught in the later part of the afternoon. Chain Pickeral require no special baits or lures to catch, chain pickeral can reach up to 4 pounds, they are an excellent fish to level up with if you can reliably catch them. Chain pickeral will bite on medium sized casting spoons usually from 2-5pm. They will never take the bait in the morning hours, or at least i have never had it happen. Chain pickeral prefer a more medium reel speed, with plenty of tugs and stops in between reeling.

Grass Pickeral- The absolute smallest of the ingame pickeral family, grass pickeral are quite easy to catch and very common if you know where to fish, they tend to like silver colored spoons with #2 or #1/0 hooks. These fish like a constant but slow reel motion, with a occasional tug. Grass pickeral have little xp value and average monetary value they are okay to farm as a rookie but hold no value later on in the game.

Northern Pike-The largest of the Pike family, Northern Pike are suprisingly quite common at emerald lake. You can catch them off the end of The Dock Of Peace, Cast a Shad 2" or a Medium Casting Spoon of to the right towards the weeds. Pike will eventually strike your line, they like to follow it so dont reel too fast or they will be unable to take the bait. Pike prefer stop and go motions, as well as lift and drop from my personal experiences. Pike can be reasonably big but i havent caught any larger than 3 pounds so far and i do not think that trophy pike are in the game, as i havent seen anyone catch them, pike offer decent xp and should be used as a XP fish not a money fish. I would go for Walleye for money.

Black Crappie-Black Crappie are a panfish, like bluegill. Black Crappie are the largest of the species, they can reach 4 pounds, Black Crappie can be caught from any location on Emerald Lake. I would recommend using a floating bait, with a sport bobber if you can, if not the chubby one will work. I would stick with baits that target panfish only as these are the only panfish in the lake this will allow you to catch only crappie, I would set your leader to 30 inches i wouldnt go any more than this as crappie are more of a top to middle of the water column fish. These are excellent little fish for money and the trophies give excellent xp.

Golden Shiner-Golden Shiner is a relatively unique fish the only one of its type that is in the game, Golden Shiners can be caught anywhere on emerald lake with spinners, spoons, and shads. They are a small fish and will never top a pound, Golden Shiners provide a decent amount of money but lackluster xp. They require a steady reel speed set your reel to medium speed or #2.

Pumpkinseed- Pumpkinseed are a panfish like crappie, they are smaller fish only reaching 1.5 pounds. The best way to fish for them is similar to crappie, use a bait pole and use the sport bobber if you can, like above the chubby bobber is also fine. I would recommend using baits that catch both pumpkinseed and crappie, read the descriptions of baits. I cannot list them, because many of the baits that i have access to will not apply to rookie fisherman.

Yellow Perch- A unique fish that is found in emerald lake, the yellow perch is fairly common it is a reasonably good fish for gaining money but a lackluster candidate when it comes to xp.
Yellow perch's can reach a size of 2.2 pounds. The best way to fish for them is with a casting spoon, even a bog standard one with a size #1/0 hook will do, i have also hooked them on a shad. They tend to like a medium reel speed maybe #2-3 I would use a lift and drop type ordeal in between reeling, and give the line an occasional tug this usually gets the interest of yellow perch.

Tips For FIshing Missouri

                                   Missouri-Pike/Pickeral Spot #1

The first spot that you will be able to catch pickeral/pike in is to the right of the top map section Last Songs Of Summer. Cast towards the wood that is sticking out of the water, not the log but the actual branches. It is important to use a Casting Spoon, you will want to select one of the smaller varieties with a size #1 or #2 hook. It is best to reel on speed #1 with a occasional stop and jerk motion, I have found this to be the most effective and have easily landed multiple Grass Pickeral size 05-0.7 pounds in a row. You will not get Chain Pickeral from this location. Due to the casting spoon use you may get the occasional small largemouth bass on the return near the log, i have on several occasions. Grass Pickeral give a average of  7+ xp per fish.

                   Missouri Pike/Pickeral Spot #2

The Second spot my favorite for getting Pickeral is on the pike map section, if you go as far left as you can along the shore you will reach this location. Cast towards the branches as far as you can I usually cast 120-150 feet and reel back slowly on reel speed #1. Use a Reel and jerk motion again reeling maybe 5-8 times in between the jerks, this will get a fish 90% of the time. Use the same Casting Spoon that i talked about for the other spot. The important thing to note about the downstream location is that you can occasionally get Chain Pickeral, which can grow to 3 pounds they are identified by the chain like stripes on them, they give excellent average xp 20+. Grass Pickeral here offer the same as the other spot.

                    Bass Spot #1

Note the Weed bed to the left, Bass hide out in it. The best early game method level #4 to fish for bass is to use Red Worms on a size 4 hook. Set your leader length to 15 and cast towards them, but not into the weeds, Bass are slow to take the bait sometimes so it is very important to not jump the gun and reel in too early. Another method is to use Spoons Casting Spoons with hooks #1-#4 and #1/0-#4/0 also work at higher level. Cast these up against or to the right of the furthest weeds, and reel in dont let the lure stop for long bass like a constant motion, jerking to the right and performing a stop and go can help to interest them, bass hit hard so it is important to quickly set the hook. The third and final method here to catch them is to use a Mini or just plain Bass Jig any size will work, use them the same way as you would a casting spoon, the mini will only produce young largemouth, but that is okay as this can help rookies to level up fast. The larger hooks 3/0 or so can produce up to 5 and 6 pound trophies like the fish below.

               Bass Spot #2

Bass will also be lurking near the underwater log if you cast slightly to the left of the green boat you will land in the correct location. Be careful you can snag your lure quite badly. The style of bass fishing for this spot is the same as the spot to the left. Cast a casting spoon and retrieve it with a moderate speed, bass will usually bite from 120 feet out to about 50 past 50 they have never hit my line. So i would recommend that you just retrieve it. Bass jigs are the same idea, but reel them in at speed #2 this will help to keep them from getting snagged as they can be a little bit expensive to lose.

                    Panfish-Crappie/Bluegill

To fish for Crappie and Bluegill it is best to use a telescopic rod or a match rod, both of these are effective at using baits. Crappie and Bluegill are fast biters. You should use a hook sized #1-#2 they are small fish and they dont bite bigger ones really. For bait, red worms, bread, cheese, dough balls, and other baits all are effective but the best for rookies and reallly noobs in general is going to be dough balls. bread is alright but it doesnt get the bigger fish. Set your leader at 25-35 inches and if you can use the sport bobber if you dont have the sport bobber the chubby will also work. Cast Out towards the middle and wait, you can catch them casting virtually anywhere in missouri both locations on the map. Panfish do not offer good money, Trophies on the other hand offer decent xp and that is about all. If you cant fish anything bigger then by all means fish them, really the only other reason is for the ingame achievements.

                 Catfish
I dont have any specific pictures for catfish but the best way is to take a telescopic or match rod and cast out towards the left middle or to the middle near the green or yellow boat. About 35-50 feet set the leader to about 80-90 if applicable, Catfish will take a variety of baits but the overall best is Cutbait. You can use any that list catfish though but you pose risk of getting other fish. The best hooks are size 4, and size 1/0-4/0. Catfish are picky and will often play with the bait before they strike, they will hit it hard when they do, and often put up a reasonably good fight.

I wanted to add that to get bass at the lower pike section of the map, you should cast towards the branch in the middle of the river but be careful not to snag your lure.

Thanks for Reading These Tips, If you would like to contribute please message me on steam at 501st AC/DC. Please do not contact me for any other reasons.

I wanted to inform all of you that I am still working on this blog and that I am here to add some stuff that has changed since I was last able to update the blog.

                                     Gar
Gar have been added to Missouri since I posted this blog and can be caught here but only by higher level players, If a way for noobies to catch them exists I will update but for now I am not aware of one.
Gar can be caught with a float rig, a simple bobber like the yellow and green one, is really all thats needed bobber wise. You will also need a hook  size #2/0 and bait wise large minnows are a option set your leader to 30 inches as they are a surface fish compared to catfish. I know other baits exist to catch them but I am not able to test since I cannot catch them yet.

                         Update
I am looking for someone who can assist me in updating and maintaining this blog, I am also currently working on seeking a .com domain and hosting but cannot afford it, I will not be running ads on this site as they annoy people and I wouldnt do anything to others that I wouldnt like myself.
